Two female suicide bombers who were initially thought to be IDPs have detonated explosives at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Borno state, blowing themselves up ,killing about eight people, and leaving 12 people injured.
It was gathered that the bombings occurred at about 8.00 am on Wednesday in the town of Banking on the edge of Borno State, near the border with Cameroon.
Details of the attack were not brought to light in good time as Banki is remote and largely disconnected from mobile phone networks.
Khalid Aji, a member of a grassroots community security group based in Konduga, said members of his organisation in Banki who helped to evacuate victims gave him details of the attack, adding that there has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.
