Edo poll: APGA disowns members over defection .

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance on Thursday distanced itself from its Publicity Secretary, Chief Paul Okolie, and Organising Secretary, Chidi Eze, as defectors from the party, ahead of the September 28 governorship election.

‎   This was contained in a statement signed by the state Chairman, Godfrey Ehimen, and Secretary, Aifuobhokhan Emmanuel.
Okolie and Eze had reportedly defected to the All Progressives Congress along with their supporter and endorsed its candidate, Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday.
They were also said to have been joined by several leaders at the ward level.
But the party (APGA) described the defectors as “political jobbers” who lost their membership of the party, after they were expelled for anti-party activities three months ago.
The statement read in part, “The state chapter of the APGA, hereby, disowns Paul Okolie as APGA state Publicity Secretary and his supporters and the Organising Secretary, Chidi Eze, and his supporters, who have long been expelled from the party for over three months, due to their involvement in anti-party activities and are no longer members of the party.”
The party also described its governorship candidate, Osaro Onaiwu, as the “most qualified” and “scandal-free”‎ to succeed the incumbent Governor Adams Oshiomhole and proffer solutions to the hardship faced by the citizens.
It, therefore, warned members of the APGA to adhere to the provisions of the party’s constitution, warning that erring members would be sanctioned.
